Overview
In one week (14–20 September 2025), we handled port agency for three DOF vessels in Las Palmas — Skandi Hera, Skandi Jupiter, and Skandi Mercury — under tight turnarounds.
Each call required bunkering and crew change; two vessels also needed hull cleaning before a Brazil assignment with strict environmental requirements. In parallel, two vessels completed a registry change from NOR to NIS, including GMDSS call sign updates and class inspection. We treated the three port calls as one integrated project to coordinate berths, bunker windows, vendors, and documentation — cutting idle time and keeping all vessels work-ready on departure.

The challenge
Tight turnarounds
Three calls inside seven days.
With only days between arrivals and departures, every clearance, bunker slot, crew movement, and inspection had to be secured and sequenced early to avoid cascading delays.
Berth & hull-clean choreography
Right berth, right time, no idle.
Hull cleaning demanded a suitable berth and coordination with bunker stations and port control. Timelines were optimized to save quay time and eliminate waits between operations.
Registry & compliance
NOR → NIS, class & GMDSS.
Two vessels changed flag registry during the week, triggering call sign updates across GMDSS equipment and class inspection — all aligned with port formalities and sailing schedules.
Our approach
Integrated planning
We set one master plan with DOF Norway, Port Vantage Las Palmas, and vessel captains — selecting the most cost- and time-effective sequence across all three calls.
On-quay readiness
All suppliers and key personnel were confirmed in advance and staged quayside for arrival. Berth line office and bunker stations were coordinated to remove slack between ops.
Documentation first
Pre-cleared permits, customs, crew lists, and registry paperwork (NOR→NIS) were bundled with class inspection timing and GMDSS call sign updates to keep authorities aligned.
